CBNA Seniors Named Semifinalists in 2016 National Merit Scholarship Program
Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation recently announced that Coe-Brown seniors Zach Rheaume of Barrington and Jake Scarponi, also of Barrington, have been named Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program. Rheaume and Scarponi join approximately 16,000 other Semifinalists nationwide in this 61th annual Merit Scholarship Program. Rheaume and Scarponi along with these other academically talented students, have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 8,000 National Merit scholarships worth about $35 million that will be offered next spring. To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements including submitting a detailed application and essay to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 90% of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and more than half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title. Congratulations to Zach Rheaume and Jake Scarponi on this achievement.
